The Lombardi Trophy is the ultimate prize in the NFL. And one quick look at the current Super Bowl 53 odds will make it clear which teams the oddsmakers in Las Vegas feel have the best chance at hoisting the iconic trophy next February.
A lot can (and will) happen between now and February, but for now, here’s a look at the teams with the best odds of winning Super Bowl 53, according to the Vegas oddsmakers.
Odds courtesy of BetOnline as August 25, 2018.
Green Bay Packers (+1400)
If Aaron Rodgers — the best offensive player in the NFL today — stays healthy, the Packers will be Super Bowl contenders. Enough said.
Pittsburgh Steelers (+1000)
The window of opportunity for the Steelers’ current core group of players to win the franchise’s seventh Super Bowl title is rapidly shrinking — as evident by the fact that Ben Roethlisberger seriously contemplated retirement following the 2017 season. That said, there is no denying that they have one of the most talented rosters in the league. If they stay in good health and improve on the defensive side of the ball, Pittsburgh will be in contention next January.
Philadelphia Eagles (+1000)
On paper, the reigning Super Bowl champions actually look like a better team heading into 2018 than they were in 2017. If Carson Wentz can bounce back from the torn ACL he suffered last December and regain the form that made him an MVP candidate in 2017, the Eagles will be in excellent shape to defend their title.
Minnesota Vikings (+1000)
The Vikings went all-in on quarterback Kirk Cousins. If he proves to be an upgrade over Case Keenum (as the Minnesota front office is obviously expecting), the Vikings have enough talent on both sides of the ball to legitimately contend for their first Super Bowl title in franchise history.
Los Angeles Rams (+1000)
Behind the stellar play of running back Todd Gurley and defensive tackle Aaron Donald, the Rams were one of the biggest surprises in the league in 2017. They followed that up with one of the splashiest offseasons in recent NFL history by adding cornerbacks Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters, defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, and wide receiver Brandin Cooks. If this team can gel, and if quarterback Jared Goff can prove that his sophomore NFL season was no fluke, the Rams may prove to be the best team in the NFL.
New England Patriots (+700)
As long as Tom Brady continues to fight off Father Time, the Patriots will be considered the team to beat in the AFC. Bottom line: this team is built to win games in January and February.
