The 2018 NFL regular season is officially in the home stretch. Three teams — the Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams, and New Orleans Saints — have already clinched playoff spots, and the number of legitimate championship contenders can be counted on one hand. Moreover, based on what we’ve seen through 14 weeks, Super Bowl 53 could feature one of the most intriguing matchups of all time.

When the 2018 season opened, the most likely Super Bowl 53 matchup, according to the oddsmakers in Las Vegas, was a rematch of Super Bowl 52 between the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots at +1700. Fast forward to today, and that potential matchup is going at +25000, making it an extreme long shot.

With all that being said, here is a look at the most likely matchups for Super Bowl 53 heading into Week 15, according to Vegas.

New Orleans Saints vs. Los Angeles Chargers (+1100)

The Saints are the front-runners in the NFC, and the Chargers are a team that has quietly posted a 10-3 overall record through Week 14.

Aside from the obvious intrigue of this potential Super Sunday matchup, there is also a major revenge factor at play here. For those of you who forgot or are too young to remember, the Chargers drafted Philip Rivers to replace Drew Brees, their then-starting quarterback, back in 2004.

Los Angeles Rams vs. New England Patriots (+1000)

Simply put: This potential Super Bowl matchup would check all the boxes when it comes to having the makings of an instant classic. What’s more intriguing, though, is the possibility that the Rams, led by head coach Sean McVay and quarterback Jared Goff, could become the next dominant head coach-quarterback duo ala Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.

Los Angeles Rams vs. Kansas City Chiefs (+750)

The Rams and Chiefs treated fans to arguably the greatest Monday Night Football game of all time back in Week 11. Who in their right mind wouldn’t want an encore?

New Orleans Saints vs. New England Patriots (+450)

This potential matchup would pit Drew Brees versus Tom Brady with a Lombardi Trophy on the line. What more could NFL fans ask for?

New Orleans Saints vs. Kansas City Chiefs (+350)

At one point this season both of these teams looked nearly unbeatable. Going forward, they both still look very capable of making deep postseason runs, and they each control their own destiny when it comes to locking up home field advantage throughout the AFC and NFC playoffs. And make no mistake about it, this potential matchup would be highly entertaining.
