History has proven that upsets happen every week in the NFL. With that being the case, we are fairly certain that there will be at least one or two shocking upsets during Week 2 of the 2018 NFL season.

There may not be an upset on the level of the 9.5-point underdog Tampa Bay Buccaneers beating the New Orleans Saints straight up in Week 1, but there is sure to be several teams that find themselves on upset alert come Sunday afternoon.

That said, here is a look at three potential upsets — against the spread (ATS) — in Week 2.

Odds courtesy of as of September 15, 2018.

New York Giants over Dallas Cowboys

Point Spread: Cowboys -3

Simply put: the Giants are a more complete team than the Cowboys. The Cowboys are going to have to respect and gameplan to slow down rookie running back Saquan Barkley, which should open things up for Odell Beckham Jr., Sterling Shepard, and Evan Engram against the Cowboys suspect secondary.

Not only do we like the Giants and the points here, we also like them to win this game straight-up.

Jacksonville Jaguars over New England Patriots

Point Spread: Patriots -1.5

The Jaguars are undoubtedly one of the premier teams in the NFL (they may have the best overall defense in the league), and they will enter this game as home underdogs. While it’s never easy to bet against Tom Brady and the Patriots, it is a proven fact that home underdogs tend to perform quite well against the spread.

Let’s not forget, the Jags likely would have beaten the Pats in New England had the referees not robbed Myles Jack of a fumble recovery in last year’s AFC Championship Game.

Indianapolis Colts over Washington Redskins

Point Spread: Redskins -6.5

This is a game we see ending up as an offensive shootout. While we believe Washington’s home field advantage will prove to be a key factor here, we just don’t see them beating the Colts by a touchdown or more.

Expect the ‘Skins to win, but not cover the spread.
