As one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, Mark Wahlberg doesn’t get many days off. And when you factor in his success as an entrepreneur, it’s hard to figure out how the 47-year-old actually finds time to sleep. Despite his hectic schedule, Wahlberg was still able to place a few wagers on the upcoming 2018 NFL season.
“I placed three bets at the Ocean Resort Casino when they opened their new sportsbook,” Wahlberg recently told TMZ. “I bet the [Philadelphia] Eagles to return to the Super Bowl, the [New England] Patriots to return [to the Super Bowl]. Both of them to win. And then I bet that the [Cleveland] Browns would win more than 5.5 games with Baker Mayfield at the helm.”
Wahlberg opened a bar (called Entourage) and one of his family’s burger restaurants (Wahlburgers) at the new Ocean Resort Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, so it only makes sense that he would give his business to their sportsbook.
At this point, it would only be natural to start wondering how much money Wahlberg, who earned $68 million in 2017, wagered on his trio of bets. Unfortunately, that likely won’t become public information anytime soon.
“That’s a private matter,” Wahlberg said laughing (via TMZ). “You know what? We’ve got faith.”
It’s no secret that Wahlberg and his family are diehard fans of Boston-area professional sports teams. He is personal friends with legendary quarterback Tom Brady, and he is a regular guest in team owner Robert Kraft’s box at Patriots games. And like most other New England-area natives, Wahlberg is deeply passionate about the Boston Red Sox.
When TMZ asked him about his beloved Red Sox having their 10-game winning streak come to a halt on Friday, July 13, Wahlberg didn’t seem phased. “We’ve got the best record in all of Major League Baseball right now. We’re 4.5 games up on the [New York] Yankees.”
If the Vegas oddsmakers prove to be accurate, 2018 is shaping up to be an amazing year for Wahlberg’s teams.
