Whether you’re a season-long or daily fantasy sports (DFS) player, finding success in fantasy football is all about exploiting matchups. And as we head into Week 2 of the NFL season, there are a handful of quarterbacks who stand out above the rest.

One quarterback that deserves an honorable mention here is Carson Wentz of the Philadelphia Eagles. We love his matchup against the Indianapolis Colts (especially with the Eagles’ injury issues at running back), but we aren’t totally ready to commit to him in his first game back since tearing his ACL last November.

And as usual, we like the matchups for Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, and Cam Newton.

With that being said, here is a look at five quarterbacks with favorable fantasy matchups in Week 3.

Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons

After a highly disappointing performance in Week 1, Ryan bounced back with a huge fantasy performance in the Falcons’ Week 2 win over the Carolina Panthers.

In Week 3, Ryan will be in the friendly confines of Mercedes-Benz Stadium for what will likely be an offensive shootout with the New Orleans Saints. If the game goes as most people expect, Ryan should have a huge day.

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

Simply put: Mahomes has been phenomenal in his first full season as the Chiefs’ starting quarterback. And with a matchup against a vulnerable San Francisco 49ers secondary on the slate for Week 3, we are fully expecting the former Texas Tech star to continue producing big-time fantasy numbers.

Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers are dealing with plenty of drama off the field, but that shouldn’t stop Roethlisberger from posting huge numbers against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3.

The Buccaneers have been extremely friendly to opposing quarterbacks in 2018, and the Steelers’ offense will enter the game with a lot to prove. Don’t be surprised if Big Ben recaptures his legendary connection with Antonio Brown en route to a top-five fantasy performance in Week 3.

Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

With the Buccaneers set to host the Steelers on Monday night, we are confident that “Fitz-Magic” will continue into Week 3.

By now, everybody has seen or heard about what Kanas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes did to the Pittsburgh secondary. Fitzpatrick likely won’t throw six touchdown passes on Monday night, but a 300-yard, three-touchdown performance is very possible.

Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers

We were expecting a huge week from Garoppolo in Week 2 against the Detroit Lions, and while he didn’t exactly deliver a stellar fantasy performance, he was solid, throwing for 206 yards and two touchdowns.

This week, Jimmy G faces a Kansas City Chiefs defense that has been getting absolutely shredded by opposing quarterbacks in 2018. Expect to see Garoppolo have his best game of the 2018 season on Sunday — even if Eric Berry returns to action.
