As we head into the second half of the 2018 MLB season, the real fun is set to begin. Soon, the contenders will start to separate themselves from the pretenders, and we’ll get to experience one of the most exciting times in professional sports: playoff baseball.

However, before we get ahead of ourselves, it’s important to remember that there’s still some important regular-season ball left to be played. Of course, that doesn’t mean folks in Vegas can’t have themselves a little fun. With that, here’s a look at the odds-on favorites to win the 2018 World Series crown.

Odds courtesy of Sportsbook.ag as of July 23, 2018.

Chicago Cubs (+800)

The good news for the Cubs is they don’t have the weight of a 108-year championship drought on their shoulders. The team, led by stars like Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, and Jon Lester, snapped that nasty curse back in 2016. Still, just because the organization is no longer haunted by the ghost of a certain Billy Goat doesn’t mean it’ll be satisfied with just one ‘ship.

New York Yankees (+650)

The New York Yankees showed how serious they were about reclaiming their spot atop the baseball mountain by trading for superstar Giancarlo Stanton during the offseason. So far, the addition has paid off, as the Bronx Bombers lead the league with a combined 162 homers. If the Yanks can keep their bats hot, it’s easy to picture them playing well into October.

Los Angeles Dodgers (+550)

Los Angeles came oh so close to winning the World Series last year, but it couldn’t get the job done in the deciding Game Seven. This year’s squad, which currently sits 1.5 games up on the Arizona Diamondbacks in the NL West with a 55-44 mark, is eager to make up for past mistakes. Hopefully, the acquisition of All-Star Manny Machado will help the Dodgers in their quest for redemption.

Boston Red Sox (+550)

The Boston Red Sox are arguably the best team in baseball. They went 9-1 heading into the All-Star break, they boast an impressive +167 run differential — it pays to have Mookie Betts and J.D. Martinez on the roster —  and they have a nearly unhittable ace in lefty Chris Sale. The Sox are well-positioned for another World Series run.

Houston Astros (+400)

To be the best, you have to beat the best. And until further notice, that’s the Houston Astros. The 2017 World Series champs have their hearts set on a repeat. We wouldn’t bet against it.

Other teams to watch:

  • Cleveland Indians (+900)
  • Philadelphia Phillies (+1500)
  • Washington Nationals (+2000)
  • Arizona Diamondbacks (+2700)
  • Milwaukee Brewers (+2700)
